The problem.

Staten Island residents, particularly those in the North Shore, experience food insecurity at rates disproportionate to the rest of the borough and  state. As a result, these neighborhoods have among the highest rates of obesity, diabetes, and high blood-pressure. Food deserts across the island cause more of our residents to turn to lower-quality food centers, like fast food or the dollar store.

We're Food Activists.

At Food Pride on SI, we connect Staten Islanders to fresh foods and widen fresh food access.  Here's how we do it:

Grocery Machines

Our primary goal is to stock refrigerated vending machines with locally sourced produce and ready-made healthy meals. Partnering with local farmers, grocery stores, and eateries for supplies, our automated grocery stores bring you healthy and delicious foods in your apartment building, college dorm, or laundromat.

Snacking Machines

Want something healthy on the go--from popcorn to nuts to dried fruits? Visit one of our snack machines at your local gym, nail salon, or any other spot on your block for an array of nutritious and satisfying options.

Our Activism

From community partnerships to youth networks, we encourage everyone to join us in our mission. Our social media team is always hiring new teen interns passionate about promoting food equity in their communites through our line of vending machines. Interested in running your own? Learn more here!
